Balancing Security, Beauty, and Life with Just the Right Fence

by | Jan 29, 2025 | Member Spotlights | 0 comments

When it comes to enhancing the aesthetic and security of a property, there are a few things once should consider. In addition to surveillance technologies and canines, choosing the right fencing is a crucial step.

Today’s presenter, Border 2 Border Member John Tiechow is a newer franchisee of Top Rail Fence, serving Ann Arbor and Greater Washtenaw County. John took today’s presentation time to share a bit more about his background, and then elaborated on the blends of form and function available in his offerings.

From the background information he shared, John’s journey successfully navigating technical roles, with an ongoing commitment to community and environmental initiatives at every step, indicate strongly his dedication to excellence, professional ethics, and moving his community forward.

As with many professionals who have experienced a pivot since 2019, Covid changed John’s course, where he decided to take charge of his next role after that—investing in a franchise that he would work in himself. After a diligent consultant-aided search that involved 125 initial choices, then 5, then 2, his values led him to join Top Rail Fence, where he saw an opportunity to apply his skills and join a brand aligned with his commitment to service and quality.

The Right Fence for Every Need

In the later part of his presentation, John detailed various fencing options, highlighting some pros and drawbacks for each:

• Wood Fences: Classic look, but requiring maintenance, with a shorter lifespan.

• Vinyl Fences: Durable and low maintenance, but many don’t love the aesthetic.

• Chain Link Fences: Economical, secure, though less visually appealing to many.

• Aluminum Fences: Favored by HOAs for their style and minimal upkeep, but may not be quite as secure as other options.

• Wrought Iron Fences: Offers unmatched elegance and strength, but without as much privacy, unless hedges or other landscape elements are directly involved.

If you are in need of a beautiful fence upgrade and are looking to work with an upstanding professional contractor who has the backing of a reputable brand behind him—connect with John to explore how Top Rail Fence can provide both beauty and security for your property this year! Also consider joining us next week at Border 2 Border Business Connections to meet other professionals and gain insights from more community members like him.
