Success can be detrimental when not handled correctly. Though many would classify it as a “good” problem in business, having too much really can be too much—and if operators aren’t careful, many have been known to burn out or even self-destruct before truly achieving the life that they’d set out for to start. Our speaker today, Angie of Angie Finch, C.P.A. recently foresaw this possibility in her future, and decided it was time to make a change.
Though she had always been headed toward entrepreneurship, Angie started her professional career at public accounting giant Deloitte. There she quickly realized that what she valued most — problem-solving and building meaningful relationships with personalized service — and that this weren’t possible to consistently deliver in her fast-paced corporate environment.
After gaining her full license, she left for a smaller firm where she learned many of the ins-and-outs of CPA firm operations. Then, 21 years ago, after having twin daughters and not wanting to return to that job, she decided to found her own firm.
Today, after years of steady growth while raising her college-aged daughters and two sons with her husband Adam, Angie is making a bold and intentional shift. She’s reached capacity — but rather than burn out or keep doing work that doesn’t light her up, she’s restructuring her practice to focus on what she truly loves:
- Working with small business owners
- Providing tax strategy and planning
- Delivering long-term value, not just one-off returns
In doing so, she’ll be kindly referring away roughly 150 clients and doubling down on the relationships that energize and inspire.
Her request to the group? Please be thoughtful with referrals — and know that she’s best aligned with small business owners who want a strategic partner, not just a tax preparer.
