Most homeowners underestimate what paint can do, but even more so, what skipping it can cost. This week, Arty Saffian of MacFarland Painting presented some of his team’s capabilities and recent projects.
MacFarland Painting handles residential and commercial work, with a team built to handle both at scale. They serve metro Detroit on the residential side and will travel out of state for commercial projects too. The gallery images Arty shared made it clear that his crews that knows what they’re doing.
A few things from the morning worth keeping in mind:
Water always wins. Arty’s guiding principle on deferred maintenance. Peeling paint and exposed surfaces don’t hold — they invite moisture, and moisture is patient. Staying ahead of it is almost always cheaper than what comes after.
Cabinet painting before a kitchen remodel. If the layout works and the bones are solid, paint them first. Arty put the comparison plainly: around $6,000 for a full cabinet paint versus what can often be a $20,000-$30,000 remodel. For many household budgets, this comparison doesn’t come close.
Brick stain, not brick paint. An important distinction he flagged for anyone with masonry — paint traps in moisture that will eventually bubble or chip, and brick stains are instead recommended.
Instant curb appeal. Front door, shutters, garage door. Three targeted updates that change how a house reads from the street, often for far less than people expect.
If you hear someone say they’re thinking of selling, tired of their kitchen, battling an HOA letter, or staring at a deck that’s seen better days — that’s a conversation for Arty.
Arty Saffian and MacFarland Painting are the people to call when paint is the right answer. Give him a call to find out what’s possible.
And if Wednesday mornings at 7am with Border 2 Border Business Connections aren’t already on your calendar, come find out what you’ve been missing. We’d love to have you.
