Imagine, as a marketing or business consultant, someone telling you, “The majority of people identify with this, and they will like and trust you more, and be more likely to warmly occupy your space and do business with you if you put it out there for them.” In today’s increasingly divided world—that’s just a fantastical notion, no? Fortunately—and fantastically—it isn’t, actually. People, most people, love animals and pets. In addition to this, two-thirds of American households (66%) have one.
Our feature presenter, Michelle Crandall of Pets in Focus Photography shared this and other compelling tidbits today, highlighting the many ways pet photography and beautiful animal photo artwork can draw positive attention and build trust for any local business.
As a former nurse and certified life coach, Michelle takes great interest still in the well-being of her clients and how her work affects them. She’s worked with TedX Speaker and founder of K9Photo and the Global Dog Art Gallery Michael Puck. Some of Michael’s work has shown that looking at photos of animals can create similar effects to having therapy animals present, releasing oxytocin in the viewer, leading to reduced tensions and greater overall trust.
While this relaxing presence can certainly be great in the home or leisure spaces, Michelle wanted to emphasize what they could do for business. Local businesses already have an uphill battle to fight against national conglomerate brands, and in Michelle’s words, “pets humanize your business.” She ended with giving us a handful of ways we could authentically incorporate animal photography into our campaigns and environments:
Meet the Pets Portfolio
Add to your brand’s image and build connections and trust across staff and with clients by featuring employees’ or the business’s pets.
Pet-friendly Marketing Campaigns
The two-thirds of households with pets have needs specific to those pets and will make purchasing decisions based on them.
In Office Wall Art
Create good feelings, as highlighted throughout.
“Pet Ambassador” Program
Build up a popular living “mascot” that people can associate warmly with your brand.

Your next pet-centered campaign or redecorating project could make a real difference in your business. Schedule a consultation with Michelle to begin.
