How to Help Your Elder Loved Ones Prolong Their Independence and Live Safely at Home

by | Sep 7, 2022 | Member Spotlights | 0 comments

There’s a term sociologists casually use for middle-aged adults with aging parents: “the messy middle,” referring to those not-quite-silver years where many are still looking after the well-being of their own not-fully-independent offspring, but suddenly their parents or other close relatives need steadily-increasing attention too.

Coincidentally (or not), this period tends to match up with the most demanding and leadership-centered years of one’s career and social obligations too, making for a perfect storm of peak protective responsibility-bearing stress.

How do we best balance the wishes of our elders to age in their own homes with dignity, with their need for safety and highly-attentive available help?

There is no single good answer for this—but our presenter today Jessica Sastre of the independent living consulting agency Ezra has some great solutions and the knowledge to help “messy middle”-approaching Millennials and Gen-X adults help their aging parents thrive, especially those living geographically apart.

With a variety of tools at hand, including but not limited to: remote services, emergency detectors, health monitors, safety audits—and even clever devices like today’s biggest presentation hit, a device which increases the voice-volume on TVs so total-volume doesn’t need to be blasted at as high of levels—Ezra is ready to help.

Contact Jess at Ezra to help your loved ones live longer in their homes with dignity and family peace-of-mind, today!
