Our speaker today Morgann Dehn of Goosehead Insurance didn’t set out initially to write insurance policies – but the work found her after being denied an important claim on her own home.
From there, she resolved to learn “everything” about home insurance, and quickly developed a passion that ultimately pivoted her career from law enforcement into a different form of risk mitigation: customer-centric insurance policy
As an insurance agent, Morgann works closely with mortgage offices and banks to be a well-tuned resource to help facilitate mortgage clients’ property transactions—able to provide binders in as little as 20 minutes during normal business.
She works with over 40 providers to be able to ensure coverage on NEARLY every imaginable structure (one known exception: log homes erected without any building license)—selecting the best terms and rates available for the client.
In addition to learning Morgann’s professional background and specialties—we learned briefly of the importance of both flood and umbrella policies:
Not to be confused as related — umbrella policies don’t impart any sort of water protection but rather serve as overarching liability buffer on top of property and casualty policies. With many accident lawsuits awarding over $1 Million in damages and most policies only providing $250,000/$500,000 coverage — this level of protection can be immensely valuable.
Similarly, for most Americans, their home is their most valuable asset and flooding for that home is covered by exactly zero home insurance policies. In most areas of the country flood insurance is a low-cost must-have protector for the day that the rains really come.
