Eighteen years of experience has taught our group’s massage therapist, Jen McFarland of Stepping Stone, a thing or two (or many) about the broad and ever-evolving field of massage.

Today she broke down the major schools of body work within her field – soft tissue massage, deep tissue massage, energy work – and the many best-known names and specialized techniques that fall within each.

It was very interesting and helpful to understand that deep tissue massage is a broad field known to include trigger point therapy, Rolfing, myofascial release, structural integration – cupping, which Jen specializes in – and more.
