This Washtenaw County Small Business Group Has Now Referred $1 Million in Business to its Members

by | Mar 22, 2023 | Events, Member Spotlights | 0 comments

Around 3pm on Tuesday of this week the member success tracker for Border to Border Business Connections casually rang past a special milestone:

$1 Million in referred chapter business.

B2B has now passed over $1 Million in closed referred sales to current and former members since this group’s formation in 2020.

That’s no small achievement for a break-off networking group started weeks before the pandemic, operating with around one dozen members and never more than twenty—but still passing referral business on the order of $300k per year.

How are these numbers tracked?

Initially, members share a verbal ask each week regarding who they’re looking to connect with in their business. Over the course of weeks, members are able to build a great profile of what and who each of their B2B colleagues are looking for. When a member uses or shares contact info with an acquaintance who could use another member’s service, B2B recognizes this and counts it as a referral passed. For all referrals that do transact as business, at the end of each meeting members openly thank the colleagues who provided the referral. Those dollar totals are also input into one shared document that tracks group data on a weekly and cumulative basis.

Today, the group celebrated $1,000,000 in closed business with a photo, a team activity, and some treats.

Next week, on March 29, Border to Border is off for Spring Break.

Meetings resume on Wednesday morning April 5 with networking, a member presentation, and the first steps toward the next million!
