What Type of CPA Should New Businesses Work With

by | Oct 4, 2023 | Member Spotlights | 0 comments

If you’re just starting out in a business, where should you go for your accounting needs?

For most new entrepreneurs, the choices aren’t known very clearly:

  • You could go the cheapest route—fish through all of the needed forms, calculate your amount due, have the correct summaries and supplements to show your work, and file—all by yourself.
  • Or there’s the slightly simpler and pricier route—using a well-known tax software to automate most of this process—and still filing yourself. Doing this, however easy, leaves more risk for error and for missing out on obscure-but-potentially-significant benefits.
  • There’s also the big firm route. They have the capacity to provide top-notch service—but at a cost, with your business probably falling low among their priorities. While you’re greatly protected from human error, being a lower-priority client may lead to some missed upsides.
  • And finally—there’s the committed, independent C.P.A. More on that…

Today’s presenter, Angie Finch, Proprietor of Angie Finch, C.P.A., has been a professional in her trade for over 20 years, working at one of the big firms, then going independent in 2005.

She discussed the types of clients she feels the most satisfaction working with—and that is new and growing small businesses. Her and her husband both grew up in small business households, now each own their own small businesses, and small business remains a key part of her lifelong identity and passion.

As an independently-operating C.P.A., she is able to give these businesses focus and attention that they often can’t get from larger firms. From her own life experience, she knows many of the opportunities and struggles that small businesses face, and she is always willing to help professionally while interacting on a personal level.

If you’ve just started a business or anyone else in your life has—reach out to Angie. She’ll account for your business’s needs. (See what we did there? 😛 )
