Who Helps the Helpers?

by | Mar 8, 2023 | Member Spotlights | 0 comments

Jamie Laramore of Sole Serenity Coaching has spent virtually her whole life helping those around her.

As an older sister, then a student of social work, then a professional therapist, and now a mother and professional coach—the idea of helping is about as instinctual as having her first meal each day—it’s just something she does, and in doing so, finds a large amount of her purpose.

But what about when the demands and stresses, even for someone innately-drawn to helping, get to be too much?

Today, Jamie walked us through her journey to coaching, where she helps helpers to set boundaries and find purpose and validation outside of tasks they feel are expected of them.

After years of working professionally as a therapist, Jamie had decided in early 2020 to take her practice independent. It was here that, despite high capacity in her professional role, the troubles began: the many-faced stresses of being an entrepreneur, the emotional tolls of her therapy sessions, the around-the-clock duties of being a mother—the energy to help was depleting.

After some distress and much reflection, Jamie decided to step back and be the type of person she could have used during that personal low-of-lows. She wanted to be a professional who could help other professional helpers—teachers, aides, therapists, parents, caretakers—find the purpose and validation they need outside of their work to stay emotionally-fueled.

Now Jamie operates Sole Serenity Coaching, where she works primarily with women and those in helping professions to be their fullest selves.
